March 21, 2011

This week Maria had to talk to her boss to change her work schedule (she works every Sunday all day), and we couldn`t get a hold of her all week. On Saturday she finally called us and said she had gotten her work schedule arranged so she could come every other Sunday. It was a miracle that it happened! Now she can be baptized, and she said she`s going to keep trying to change her work schedule to come every Sunday. She came to stake conference yesterday and cried with joy through the whole conference. Her daughter as well. They are SO adorable. She met president Laycock and told him how she came to know the church, and how she was so excited to finally be baptized. Her husband gave her permission. She`ll be baptized right before General Conference on Sunday morning. Yehaw! She`s is so wonderful! Her daughter is reading at least a chaper a day from the Book of Mormon. They are so humble and submissive and ready to do what the Lord requires.

We had a ward activity, with a rousing ¨Do you love your neighbor?¨ We had investegators that stayed from the English class, and the members were just fabulous. They prepared the investegators so well, they gave them the desire to listen to us, and we just had to write down an appointment. I`m excited!

Francisca FINALLY got a marriage date set. July 11. We`re anxious for her to be able to get baptized as fast as possible. I guess 4 months is better than never. She was sad when she heard that we probably wouldn`t be there for her wedding or baptism. I was too. But I`m so excited that she has a date.

We had a Stake Conference with Elder Corbridge and his wife. She talked about making a convenant with the Lord to read the Book of Mormon every day. He talked about the atonement, and about how all joy, hope, faith, love, light, intelligence, happiness, peace, tranquility comes from the act that Christ suffered for our sins and suffered all the pains of the world. Without Christ, there is nothing. No light. no hope. no faith. no happiness. nothing. But because he came, and because his restored gospel is on the earth, we can again have all good things. I am so grateful for Christ. I am so grateful for his sacrifice. I am so grateful that he`s given me this opportunity. I`m so grateful that through affliction, through struggles, through my mistakes, that he can help me develop character and become more like him. I can`t even hope to understand what he felt.....but I`ve felt his strength, peace, and sustaining hand during moments where I feel there is no more hope. I know he loves us. I know he loves YOU! Personally! Pray to him, seek his council, and he will help you feel peace, no matter what`s happening
I love all of you. I pray each of us will come to know his atonement a bit more this week.
Love, Hermana Blackham
