Ok, so much happened, I have a feeling this will be a scattered letter
1. Yesterday during testimony meeting an hermana referred to us as ¨charlies angels¨ that showed up at her door at the right minute....Between that, or the ¨powerpuff girls¨ the ward members know us well.
2. So we decided something...received our ¨own revelation¨ as a companionship that we`re going to stay for another 16 months in Cordillera until Hermana Singleton leaves. Hope you`re ok with that!
3. Holy Cow....we had the most intense contact this week. I normally don`t share experiences like this, but It was incredible. We started talking with a woman who had family members who were members. She didn`t have a lot of knowledge about the gospel, and began asking us questions so we explained the main doctrines of the gospel and invited her to know for herself. with time I felt like something overtook her and she was shaking asking us by what power we had to testify of such things, as she explained that nobody, especially a young boy, had the power to see God. I can`t even explain the fire that filled my body (hermana Singleton said that Hermana Ewing and I looked about ready to pounce=) haha) I couldn`t hold inside the feelings that I had, as I told her that I knew that he saw God, and that I was called by that same God to testify of these things, and Both of them jumped in and shared powerful testimonies of Joseph Smith. Then we left. It was such a powerful experience, but they leave me drained....
4. After that we went down to a poorer part of our sector, where two men called us over to tell us that they had been watching a man, in his drunken state, trying to walk in traffic, and they thought that we could help him. We`re happy to help, and I was grateful they saw us as servants of Christ, but I also, feeling that they could be their ¨brothers keeper,¨ invited them to help their brother as he was in need. I would love to be there to help everyone, but we can`t be everywhere. I`m learning more and more about taking care of our brothers and sisters here on earth. It`s so easy to see someone, and say ¨I sure hope someone helps them¨ when instead we can be the person to help the poor, befriend the lonely, give a hug to the sad, and do what the Lord needs to do on the earth. There are so many people in this world that need love, and need a hand up.
5. We found out our sweet investegator Julieta, whose always talked about her ¨husband,¨ isn`t really married. Ah!
6. We had a meeting with President and our ward mission leader, it was AWESOME! We talked about unifying as a ward and missionaries. He showed a movie where some lions attacked a group of Buffalo, and they all scattered, leaving one Buffalo to the Lions. But after a minute, a herd of Buffalo, at least 5 times larger than the original group came, unified, and scattered the Lions. He related it to our role as a ward and missionaries, especially in helping recent converts. He said after a baptism, the adversary comes and attacks them. But if we unify, if we come in and protect our dear recent converts, the adversary will have no power! So let`s unify, and Bind Satan! (That`s been our theme for this week.....we took white board markers and wrote it above our weekly planning session....now is our time to bind satan! I`m not waiting until the Millennium!)
7. Francisca is progressing really well. She couldn`t come to church, but we taught her lesson 2 this week, and she was so humble. Had lots of qustions, but accepted every answer we showed her in the Book of Mormon willingly. I sure love her so much!
8. Nancy hasn`t smoked once this week! YES!!! I`m so excited! She`s rocking the adversity! She is doing so well!
9. Last night as we were on our way home, we had about 10 extra minutes, and I was thinking, ¨ok...what are we going to do for another ten minutes¨ We about turned into our neighborhood, and there was a tiny woman walking towards us with huge bags in her hands. We had a few minutes so we took her bags, and helped her walk home. She had been walking from really far away and was grateful for the help. We had a good converstaion on the way, and found out that recently her sisters died, and she has 9 kids! We came to her house, and realized that one of her daughters we had met before in a park and had given her a sticker. (we have lots of kids from our neighborhoods that come up and ask us for stickers). SHe was so sweet, and invited us to have ¨once¨, or a small dinner, with her next week, where we will be sure to teach her more! What a blessing! It was like the Lord just put her right in front of us. I love doing this work. It really is his work. His hand is in everything. I know that we are here for a purpose. I know that the Lord loves his children, and wants us to take care of eachother. I hope all of you are well, and I`m so grateful for all of your letters! You rock!
Love, Hermana Blackham
